The Role
A Speech and Language SEN Teaching Assistant in a primary school supports pupils with speech, language, and communication needs. The role involves helping students access the curriculum, participate fully in school life, delivering tailored interventions, supporting individual learning plans, and assisting with classroom activities. The position is key in promoting student confidence, improving communication skills, and fostering inclusive learning environments.
You will be required to work full-time until the end of the academic year, with potential for continuation in September.
Responsibilities
* Have a strong understanding of speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) in children.
* Support pupils with SEN, particularly in a primary school setting.
* Demonstrate patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with young learners.
* Deliver targeted interventions under guidance from teachers or therapists.
* Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and external professionals.
* Adapt tasks and learning materials to meet individual pupil needs.
* Be organized, proactive, and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
* Promote inclusion and help every child reach their potential.
