Salary: Attractive Benefits Reporting to: Corporate Director of Resident Doctors About the Role: HCA Healthcare UK is actively looking for a highly motivated Head of Resident Doctor Services to join our Resident Doctors leadership team, to manage exceptional service delivery at The Portland Hospital, our globally recognised specialist Hospital for Women and Children. This is a pivotal professional leadership position directly line managing obstetric and paediatric trained Resident Doctors, and the resident doctor operation services in these areas, including PICU and NICU. Additionally, you will work closely with fellow Heads of Resident Doctors across other HCA sites and senior clinical leaders to ensure the delivery of safe, consistent, and high-quality care. What You’ll Be Doing: Provide day-to-day leadership and direct line management of Obstetric and Paediatric Resident Doctors Oversee recruitment, induction, training, and pastoral support, ensuring Resident Doctors are fully supported, competent, and performing at the highest level. Manage both operationally, and financially, medical staffing rotas and ensure safe and effective workforce deployment Collaborate with site leadership (CNO, Medical Director, CEO and CHRO) to support evolving clinical services and address staffing needs. Lead on performance reviews, continuing professional development, and supervision of clinical training portfolios. Promote and contribute to research, audit, and quality improvement initiatives. Maintain clinical credibility through active participation in clinical shifts, delivering excellent patient care and role modelling best practices. Drive regulatory compliance, uphold governance standards and lead on investigation where there are opportunities for review, or bespoke training. While we are a Consultant Led patient service, we believe in empowering our Resident Doctors to deliver exception care, under the care plan directions from our Consultant and this position focuses on leading a professional collaboration to deliver patients with a first-class experience, while maintaining safe, efficient and effective care. What you’ll bring MBBS or equivalent medical undergraduate qualification. Registered with the GMC with License to Practice ALS (Advanced Life Support), ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support), or equivalent certification. MRCPCH (Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health) Minimum of 5 years completed specialty training in Paediatrics. Ideally withhold a leadership qualification, or be willing to work towards, such as EMML or MBA. Experience leading, mentoring, directly line managing junior doctors, conduct, behaviour and performance. Demonstrated experience in clinical supervision, and workforce management, including resource management, budget management, and rostering. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, compassionate leadership style. Strong commitment to patient safety, governance, and high-quality care delivery. Confident working with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced, commercial and complex environment. Experience in quality improvement, audits, and/or academic research is desirable. Why HCA UK?
