Role Responsibility
Kent County Council is seeking a dynamic and motivated Business Support Manager to lead our Business Support team across the East Kent and South Kent regions. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference by ensuring high-quality support for managers and practitioners within Integrated Childrens Services.
About the Role
As Business Support Manager, you will:
1. Lead and manage a significant, geographically dispersed team, ensuring consistent, efficient, and effective business support services.
2. Oversee business support functions for teams including Children's Social Work, Children in Care, Early Help, Family Hubs, Fostering, Adoption, 18+ Care Leavers and Virtual School Kent
3. Drive improvements in business processes and systems, ensuring compliance with legislation and council policies.
4. Manage resource allocation, data quality, and business continuity planning.
5. Support and develop staff, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
6. Coordinate information for inspections, audits, and divisional reviews.
7. Oversee budget management and procurement within the business support function.
About You
Were looking for someone who can demonstrate:
8. Level 5 Diploma (or equivalent), degree, or advanced professional qualification.
9. Achieved or working towards Kent Manager or equivalent management qualification.
10. Significant experience in business support, including producing complex reports and managing teams.
11. Strong experience in budget planning, financial processes, and project management.
12. Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
13. Ability to drive change, exercise professional judgement, and resolve issues swiftly.
14. Understanding of inspection frameworks, governance, and personnel practices.
15. Willingness and ability to travel across a wide geographical area as required.
