As Site Operations Manager at our client's facility, you will be instrumental in ensuring the plant is managed and operated to thehighest possible performance standards, encompassing technical, financial, health, safety, and environmental aspects. This role necessitates a flexible and adaptive working approach, both in developing solutions and working patterns, while promoting a positive workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities & What You'll Achieve:
Reporting directly to the Operations Director, your role is pivotal in the day-to-day running of the plant:
* Strategic Operations Leadership: You will take direction from the wider business regarding plant operational needs, then plan, organise, direct, and run optimum day-to-day operations, including contractor management. This involves monitoring operations, triggering corrective actions, and developing a full understanding of the process operation and equipment.
* Team Empowerment: Lead the Operations Team by example, effectively organising, managing, recruiting, and developing staff to achieve necessary results. You'll establish and direct all work activities, from routine to unplanned maintenance and installation works, ensuring delivery to agreed timelines and quality standards.
* Safety Champion: Ensure the plant is operated safely at all times by organising safe systems of work and directing all necessary safety assessments, audits, inspections, and calibrations. You'll also direct the change management process and participate in safety assessments and meetings (e.g., Hazop and risk assessments) relating to plant modifications.
* Performance & Quality Assurance: Take responsibility for production output, product quality, and materials supply and sourcing. You will also collect and analyse data on people, processes, and materials, compiling essential reports detailing performance, including Key Performance Indicators and regulatory compliance.
* Operational Excellence: Ensure all plant records are correct and up-to-date. You will work flexibly and adaptively, developing solutions to challenges and promoting a positive workplace culture.
What Our Client is Looking For (Essential Abilities):
We are searching for an individual who embodies leadership, safety, and technical prowess:
* Proven Leadership: Significant work experience as a site manager, shift manager, or in a technical role within a related field, with strong team building, decision-making, and people management skills. You must be able to create accountability and lead by example.
* Safety First Mindset: A proven ability to work and direct work safely, ensuring the safety of others and complying with all safety assessment requirements.
* Adaptability & Problem-Solving: The flexibility to work in varying patterns, locations, and reporting lines, combined with an innovative approach to providing solutions to particular challenges.
* Technical Acumen: Proven technical expertise and the ability to quickly learn the operation and equipment of new processes and equipment.
* Organisational Skills: Proven ability to plan, organise, monitor, and report the work activities of others.
* Team & Independent Work: The capacity to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
* Practical Requirements: Computer literacy and own transport are required.
What Will Set You Apart (Desirable Abilities):
* Certifications such as WAMITAB MROC1 or similar, or IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent.
* Experience in waste management, Gasification, Pyrolysis, Combustion, or Anaerobic Digestion.
