Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a corporately owned practice based in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, with a loyal client base and an excellent reputation for compassionate care. The team prides itself on going the extra mile for pets and their owners, while also ensuring a supportive and flexible working environment for their colleagues.
Working Hours / Rota
The practice is highly flexible and open to full-time or part-time working arrangements. Shift patterns can be tailored to suit personal commitments, including specific days of the week or preferences for longer/shorter days. Weekend work is ideally 1 in 4 (Saturday 9:00am – 5:30pm, Sunday 10:30am – 4:00pm), but this is negotiable. There are no OOH requirements. Appointments are 15 minutes for routine and 20 minutes for non-routine. A paid one-hour lunch break is provided, and staff are paid an additional 30 minutes post-close to ensure a timely departure.
Role Description
The successful candidate will perform consultations, routine surgeries, and contribute to the overall clinical care of patients. The practice supports a no-sales-pressure ethos, allowing vets to focus on medical quality and patient care. Daily work is varied due to a mixed caseload, and the role offers opportunities to pursue additional clinical interests or certifications. Communication and collaboration are highly valued, with open discussions and mutual case support encouraged across the team.
Team Size
The current team consists of 4 vets (with varying levels of experience including a new graduate), 5 experienced nurses, and 4 receptionists. The team dynamic is friendly, collaborative, and supportive, with a strong focus on shared success and patient-first values.
Practice Details
The practice is located in the Parc Trostre Retail Park within a busy Pets at Home store, benefiting from excellent footfall and a loyal clientele. The facility is built to industry-leading standards and is equipped with state-of-the-art tools, including digital radiography, ultrasound, and an in-house laboratory.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal vet will have solid clinical skills, good consultation and routine surgical experience, and strong communication abilities. A personable and collaborative attitude is key, along with a willingness to contribute ideas and enthusiasm to help improve the practice further.
