Your new role
The Works Inspector is responsible for conducting site inspections and reports to the Senior Quality Works Inspector. Their role is to ensure that both management and the client are confident that the delivery team and supply chain are meeting the specified standards and design requirements. Initially, this is achieved through on-site coaching and training for the Delivery Team to help them understand the required standards. Subsequently, the Works Inspector performs inspections to verifypliance. This position involves working in a designated area of the project while providing support across various disciplines.
Duties:
Ensure all quality documentation is in place and prestart checks arepleted before work begins.
Monitor the quality of materials through goods inwards inspections.
Check the works during progress and uponpletion to ensure they meet the specifications and relevant design.
Ensure inspections and tests are conducted according to the inspection and test plans and the Safe System of Work, and that all necessary documentation is produced promptly.
Proactively prevent substandard work by coaching and providing training to the delivery team and supply chain where applicable.
Address nonpliance by producing Non-conformance Reports, taking preventive action, and closing them in a timely manner. Offer advice where applicable.
Support the Quality teams in conducting site surveillances.
Assist in resolving quality-related issues and offer advice where applicable.
Support the collation andpletion of project record packages, including coordinating thepletion of snagging and closing out DOWLS/Punchlist items on an ongoing basis.
Raise and capture Quality-focused lessons learned andmunicate them to the Quality and Delivery Teams, including the supply chain.
What you'll need to succeed
Hold a relevant CSCS Card and Highways Passport.
Have received on-site training in Quality.
Bepetent in usingputer software (MS Word, Excel).
Conduct onsite inspections against an approved Detail Design and generate applicable assurance records.
Have experience and knowledge of highways specifications and standards.
Possess relevant site supervisory or site engineering experience on civil engineering projects, preferably major highway schemes, or have Quality/Works Inspector experience from previous civil engineering projects.
Hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering.
