Responsibilities
Essential Functions
The key activities outlined below are an overview of the Manufacturing Operations Manager position, based at the Telford Plant. This plant manufactures a range of fastener products for diverse industrial markets, including commercial transportation, automotive, renewable energies, building and construction, and agriculture.
Strong leadership skills are essential, along with initiative in continuous improvement, operational excellence, growth, profitability, and technical leadership. Key tasks include inspiring, leading, and motivating a diverse team across production, and implementing our operational excellence strategy. Planning, analytical, and forecasting skills are required to ensure excellent service delivery to a demanding customer base.
The successful candidate must have a proven track record in a fast-paced manufacturing or operations environment and be financially and commercially astute.
Specific Responsibilities
* Leading, managing, developing, and motivating managers, supervisors, and employees to maintain a positive and engaged team.
* Developing and owning the operational strategic plan aligned with company strategy.
* Supporting investment requirements (capex) based on market indications.
* Ensuring production targets meet customer demands, focusing on efficiency improvements and multi-skilling to maximize TOC and AtD performance.
* Managing complex primary operations, including metal forming, rolling, machining, and thermal processing of precision parts.
* Overseeing maintenance activities across primary and secondary operations and test labs, minimizing downtime through preventative maintenance and prioritizing critical repairs.
* Managing facilities activities, setting priorities, controlling costs, and ensuring work completion.
* Ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards, including up-to-date risk assessments and ASATs.
* Addressing customer-related issues effectively, conducting root cause analysis using the 8D process, and implementing long-term solutions.
* Achieving operational KPIs such as productivity, staff absence, on-time delivery, quality, EHS, and employee engagement through effective planning and review.
* Implementing productivity and efficiency improvements, and enhancing service and quality performance.
* Leading process development to improve productivity (e.g., CIP, DVP) and performance (e.g., TOC, AtD).
* Developing shift supervisors and team leaders' technical and operational knowledge.
* Coaching and managing team performance to support personal development and organizational goals.
* Developing and delivering training procedures to ensure consistency and speed of learning.
* Encouraging communication and collaboration across departments.
* Implementing and maintaining company policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience in a manufacturing environment.
