Job Title: Trainee Surveyor

GDi is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Trainee Surveyor to join our team based in Aberdeen. Reporting to the Survey Manager, this role involves conducting surveys for Global Design Innovation Ltd and other companies as added to GDi’s portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a passion to learn and develop within this role.
Key Activities and Responsibilities:
1. Assist in conducting a wide range of surveys following relevant procedures.
2. Perform pre-mobilisation checks on survey and scanning equipment.
3. Support activities such as resolving survey queries, responding to technical and media requests from clients and GDi personnel, and data download requests.
4. Under supervision, carry out laser scanning on onshore/offshore assets as per GDi procedures.
5. Process captured data and prepare final deliverables.
6. Perform QA/QC analysis.
7. Model 3D data into 2D and 3D CAD drawings and reports as required.
8. Prepare and check drawings and 3D models.
9. Operate survey software and monitor data quality to meet survey specifications.
10. Achieve project targets within budget and schedule, ensuring work is prioritized appropriately.
11. Report job progress and identify scope changes.
12. Develop awareness of land/engineering surveying, including techniques, error propagation, and datums.
13. Understand environmental conditions' impact on survey systems and data.
14. Learn calibration procedures for survey systems and sensors.
15. Capitalize on understanding client requirements, scope of work, and contract deliverables.
16. Foster positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
17. Develop skills in survey software, geomatics, and point cloud processing packages (e.g., Leica Cyclone, Faro Scene, LFM, Recap).
18. Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
19. Be willing to travel within the UK and abroad, including offshore work, often away from home for periods, mainly in the North Sea and internationally.
Qualifications & Certification:
* Work experience preferred.
* National 5 or equivalent in English and Maths is preferred.
* Desirable: BSc in Surveying or a relevant qualification.
