About the Role
Solutions Architect
This full‑time post is available immediately until 06/03/2028 on a fixed‑term contract. Applications for secondments will be considered subject to agreement from your current line manager. The starting salary will be from £43,482 to £53,301 (pro‑ratio if part time), on Grade F, depending on knowledge, skills and experience. This appointment also currently attracts a market supplement.
This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home. We welcome applications from candidates interested in working part‑time hours or job‑sharing arrangements. This role may be subject to additional background screening.
Responsibilities
As a Solutions Architect, you will be pivotal in designing solutions to support the University’s modernisation and digital transformation programmes. Building upon the vision, you will be responsible for defining the baseline (as‑is) and target (to‑be) business, information and technology architectures. Demonstrating leadership and governance, you will design and develop artefacts that align with the University’s strategies, principles and standards.
You will collaborate with all areas of the University to understand business processes, applications and data, bridging the gap between technical and non‑technical stakeholders. You will work closely with Delivery and Service Management teams to support the development, testing and deployment of infrastructure, hybrid and cloud solutions, ensuring they are implemented according to design.
Reports to the Head of Architecture and works with other Solution and Technical Architects, participating in design sessions, contributing to architectural reviews and engaging in knowledge‑sharing activities.
Qualifications and Experience
* Develop a gap analysis from the current to the target architectures required to underpin the TNE programme and deliver robust, scalable technology that supports the delivery of education internationally.
* Experienced in AWS / Azure cloud technologies with evidence of delivery of large‑scale projects.
* Experience developing solution architecture artefacts, including architecture visions and high‑level designs.
* Strong technical skills and experience in developing and delivering detailed design documentation.
* Passionate about new IT and digital technologies.
* Proven communication and collaboration skills, able to convey complex ideas and information to stakeholders.
