Job Title:
Clinical Training Specialist - Education Centre (EC)
Summary:
The Clinical Training Specialist (CTS) is a Patient Training and Education expert in Home Therapies for Vulnerable Adults. The role involves partnering with referring units to teach best practices in Peritoneal Dialysis (PD), ensuring patients are expertly trained to optimize outcomes and minimize avoidable technique failures. The role requires innovative, evidence-based teaching practices, working closely with a team at an EC and regional CTSs, and being flexible to meet patient training demands.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Teach and empower patients in self-management of PD through high-quality, evidence-based training following referrals from NHS hospitals, primarily at EC, but also in patients' homes or hospitals as needed.
2. Educate and advise healthcare professionals on best practice patient training methods for PD, adopting a train-the-trainer approach to develop skills in referring hospitals.
3. Support onsite education of junior healthcare teams in managing patients on PD therapy.
4. Collaborate with Renal Therapy Specialists to develop education plans aligned with growth strategies.
5. Work with teaching hospitals to facilitate training observations for nurses new to PD.
6. Maintain detailed training records, document sessions, and provide feedback to hospital staff.
7. Offer refresher and follow-up training for patients using innovative methods.
8. Stay current on product knowledge through journals and conferences.
9. Participate in Regional Business Meetings to align activities and share market insights.
10. Provide feedback from patients and customers, and assist sales and marketing teams in material development based on needs.
11. Support internal training initiatives to promote clinical excellence within Vantive's commercial teams.
12. Assist the EC manager in maintaining CQC regulations and readiness for inspections.
13. Ensure the wellbeing of service users and staff in accordance with CQC regulations.
14. Conduct regular audits to monitor education quality, addressing concerns for continuous improvement.
15. Engage in governance processes to identify learning opportunities.
16. Support NHS staff development and provide educational sessions on basic skills, both face-to-face and remotely.
17. Deliver high-quality remote training when needed.
Qualifications/Education and Experience:
1. Adult Nursing degree or equivalent (Essential)
2. Current registration with NMC (Essential)
3. Evidence of post-registration study (Essential)
4. Proficiency in Office 365 (Essential)
5. Strong teaching and communication skills, both written and verbal (Essential)
6. Ability to work independently and in teams (Essential)
7. Flexible problem-solving approach (Essential)
8. Confident and clinically credible (Essential)
9. Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience (Advantage)
10. Interest or experience in teaching and education, especially patient education (Advantage)
11. Knowledge of dialysis systems and processes (Advantage)
