We are seeking an internationally recognised Professor of Immersive Digital Arts for the School of Digital Arts (SODA) at Manchester Metropolitan University. The incumbent will contribute to teaching, research and knowledge exchange at the highest level, leading interdisciplinary projects in immersive and interactive storytelling across VR, AR, XR, AI, and game engines.

About the Role
The Professor will deliver world‑class teaching, develop and lead research programmes, secure external funding, and represent the university within national and international networks. You will also mentor staff and students and contribute to the academic citizenship and leadership of the institution.
* Design and deliver research‑active teaching in immersive digital arts.
* Lead interdisciplinary research projects and secure external funding.
* Publish high‑quality outputs in internationally recognised journals and at conferences.
* Mentor and support the development of research teams, staff and students.
* Contribute to knowledge exchange and industry engagement activities.
Qualifications
* PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline with a strong publication record in immersive and interactive storytelling, VR/AR/XR, AI or game engines.
* Demonstrated success in securing external research funding.
* Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (or commitment to obtain within three years of appointment).
* Membership of relevant professional bodies and an international reputation as a thought leader.
* Strong experience of innovative teaching, learning and assessment practices in digital arts.
* Excellent leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to manage research teams and collaborate with stakeholders.
* Proof of effective communication and negotiation skills with a wide range of audiences, including funding bodies.
* Good first degree and postgraduate qualifications (PGCE, PGCLTHE or equivalent).
