QTS SEN Teacher - Temporary Position

Are you a passionate and resilient Qualified Teacher with a specialism in Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We're looking for a dedicated and empathetic individual to join our team on a temporary basis. This role is ideal for a teacher who thrives on making a real difference in the lives of pupils with diverse and complex needs.

About the Role

As a QTS SEN Teacher, you'll be responsible for providing high-quality teaching, learning, and pastoral support to a class of pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Your main purpose is to promote the well-being and academic success of every child, ensuring all pupils, particularly those with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

You'll be teaching a varied curriculum, adapting your approach to suit individual learning styles and ensuring equality of opportunity for all. This role requires a professional who understands that behaviour is a form of communication and is committed to using relational, non-punitive approaches. You'll work proactively with students, parents, staff, and external agencies to provide a supportive and nurturing learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Deliver high-quality teaching and learning, ensuring the academic success and progress of all pupils.

* Lead and coordinate Annual Review meetings, write and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and conduct risk assessments.

* Teach students on a one-to-one or small group basis, both on and off-site, where they are unable to access learning in a classroom setting.

* Monitor and support the overall development of pupils, keeping accurate records of their progress and attendance.

* Maintain a strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, national curriculum, and best practices for supporting SEMH pupils.

* Collaborate effectively with colleagues, including deploying support staff, to improve the quality of teaching and learning across the school.

* Communicate regularly and effectively with parents and carers regarding their child's achievements and well-being.

* Uphold the highest standards of professionalism and contribute to the school's positive ethos and community culture.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree.

* Proven experience teaching primary-age pupils with additional needs in either a mainstream or special school setting.

* Knowledge and experience of successfully supporting children with moderate learning difficulties and social, emotional, and mental health needs.

* A strong understanding of child protection procedures and a deep commitment to safeguarding pupils.

* The ability to plan and deliver outstanding, differentiated lessons.

* Experience with EHCP Annual Reviews, writing and reviewing IEPs, and implementing personalised interventions.

* A resilient, flexible, and positive attitude, with the ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively and calmly.

* A forgiving 'every day is a new start' attitude.

Why Join Us?

You'll be part of a dedicated team that is passionate about supporting children to succeed. We offer a robust line management structure, opportunities for professional development, and a supportive, collaborative environment. If you're ready to take on a role that is both challenging and incredibly rewarding, we want to hear from you!
