Therapy Assistant Practitioner - Pulmonary Rehab
We are looking to recruit a dynamic and motivated individual to the post of Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner within Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Job Overview
The post holder will be based within the Liverpool Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team (The Breathe Programme). The successful post-holder will assist the team to deliver the pulmonary rehabilitation service to patients within hospital and community settings including community venues and patients’ own homes. You are expected to use your own car within the community, business insurance is required, and you will be paid travel expenses for your mileage.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to the assessment and treatment of patients both individually and in groups, undertaking therapeutic work and supervising patients in activity relating to their treatment.
* Assist with integrating patients into digital resources as part of their educational rehabilitation – therefore IT skills are essential.
Qualifications & Competencies
* Good communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work well individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary team in delivering excellent patient-centred care.
* Experience of working in a health or care setting with respiratory experience is highly desirable.
* Ability to make clinical decisions is required at this level, so a good understanding of patient-centred care and problem‑solving skills are essential.
Training and Support
We offer competency-based training and regular supervision to ensure you settle into your role quickly and feel supported. The therapy department has a growing cohort of support workers and we have strong working partnerships with our multi-disciplinary colleagues across the Trust, being key in the provision of therapy to both inpatients and across the community.
Working Hours and Schedule
* Full time 37.5 hours per week, usually 08.00‑16.00.
* Hospital class every Monday with a rota for working 10.30‑18.30 approximately once per month.
* Saturday rehab service rota – approximately one Saturday in 10 weeks with a day off in lieu and Saturday enhancement.
