Are you an experienced nurse with a passion for specialist care? We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Advanced Nurse to join our team, providing expert care for adults with Parkinson’s Disease from diagnosis through to the palliative stages.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver advanced clinical expertise in the assessment, treatment, and management of Parkinson’s Disease.
Provide autonomous care, working collaboratively with neurologists, geriatricians, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
Offer patient education, medication management, and symptom control strategies.
Support service development, audits, and research initiatives to enhance Parkinson’s care.
Lead and mentor junior colleagues, contributing to workforce development.
About You
We are looking for a dynamic, hardworking professional with excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care. You should be flexible, able to develop strong interpersonal relationships, and remain calm and professional under pressure.
Essential Criteria
Minimum of five years’ post-registration experience, with at least two years at Band 6 level
Comprehensive experience in the care and management of people with Parkinson’s Disease and / or neurology.
Already in possession of Non-Medical Prescribing and Advanced Clinical Examination qualifications, or a willingness to achieve both of these within 18 months of appointment into the role.
A current driving licence is essential.
The successful candidate will be supported in their professional development, with training aligned to the Parkinson’s UK Competency Framework for Nurses.
Please note, the job description for this post is currently under review and candidates should be aware that the role is currently based within Raigmore Hospital, reporting to a Medical Directorate Nurse Manager.
