Description

To contribute to achieving excellence in teaching and learning through innovative and excellent practice. You will be expected to create effective and stimulating learning opportunities for all students through high quality teaching, learning and assessment. Enthusing students by making the subject content relevant and current with a strong link to employers
and the local economy. You will be required to monitor each student's academic performance and provide feedback for improvements, supervise and motivate students to achieve their academic and personal goals.
"We offer a range of courses within the social sciences GCSE Sociology and Psychology as well as at AS/A2, it is our most
popular A level subjects and we have multiple groups. Specific experience of previously delivering AS/A2 Psychology would
be an advantage and we would welcome applicants who could also deliver Sociology/Criminology".

Key Responsibilities

1. To contribute fully to the mission and values statement of the College ensuring its effective implementation in all
aspects of College life.
2. To contribute to the College and curriculum area strategic objectives and to actively engage in the annual review.
3. To be aware of national developments in subject area and update knowledge and skills on an annual basis.
4. To plan, prepare and deliver high quality lessons to achieve effective management of the learning process
5. Plan and use a range of effective and appropriate teaching and learning techniques to engage and motivate
students and encourage independence and student autonomy
6. Establish a purposeful and motivating learning environment where students feel safe, secure, confident and valued
7. Establish and maintain procedures with students which promote and maintain appropriate behaviour,

Generic Duties:

1. To contribute fully to the mission and values statement of the College Group ensuring its effective implementation
in all aspects of College life.
2. To take proactive responsibility for Health & Safety to ensure that a safe working environment and safe working
practices are maintained at all times.
3. To comply with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
4. To support cross college actives as required in particular the key enrolment and invigilation periods.
5. To understand roles and responsibilities around safeguarding all learners.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential:
1. Educated to Level 6 e.g. Degree or equivalent in related degree
2. Successful recent previous teaching experience with 16-18 year olds
3. Excellent computer literacy - ability to use the current IT programs of the College
4. Proven relevant experience of curriculum planning, development & delivery
5. Knowledge and understanding gained from previous experience in delivering the BTEC and/or
A level specifications (Psychology/Sociology)
6. Engaged and passionate about Continuing Professional Development.
7. Minimum of Level 2 Literacy/Numeracy .
8. High level of communication and interpersonal skills, an effective member of a team
9. Ability to set high standards for students, colleagues and for themselves
10. Strong understanding of the importance and impact of feedback on learner performance
11. Experience using ICT to support and enhance subject delivery
12. Outstanding teacher who is student centred


Desirable:
1. Experience and understanding of ALPS and value added as progress measures
2. Good understanding of curriculum development to meet the training needs of employers
3.. Fluent speaking in any of the mentioned languages: Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Kurdish Sorani,
Tigrinya, Spanish, French or Portuguese
4. To have experience as a subject examiner
