Payroll Officer
Location: Lytham St Annes
Salary: up to £29,000 (dependent on experience)
Hours: 37.5 per week | Monday to Friday | 4 days on site once completed training
A highly reputable and award-winning retail organisation is seeking a proactive and detail-focused Payroll Officer to join its Payroll & Benefits team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a people-first company that values employee experience as highly as customer service.
The successful candidate will take ownership of end-to-end payroll processing for over 1,000 colleagues, ensuring full compliance and accuracy. The role also offers the opportunity to support new system rollouts and drive forward efficiencies in payroll and HR solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Processing end-to-end payroll for 1,000+ employees
Ensuring accuracy and compliance in all payroll activities
Conducting payroll reporting and analysis (e.g. Gender Pay Gap, NLW)
Administering statutory calculations (sickness, maternity/paternity, etc.)
Managing benefits including pensions and attachments of earnings
Providing guidance and support on payroll queries to colleagues and stakeholders
Supporting the integration and rollout of new HR/payroll systems
General administrative support for the Payroll & Benefits team
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Essential:
Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing
Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, including National Living Wage
Advanced Excel skills (including VLOOKUPs)
Excellent time management and decision-making skills
Comfortable with change and new technology implementation
Clear, confident communicator who builds great internal relationships
Desirable:
Payroll experience in a multi-site or retail environment
Experience with payroll systems integration
Knowledge of payrolling benefits-in-kind
Experience working in environments with flexible payroll policies
