Consultant Breast Therapeutic Radiographer

This is a newly created Consultant Radiographer post to support the Breast Service. The post holder must be capable of functioning across the four key role domains: expert practice, professional leadership and consultancy, education and training, and research and audit. Candidates in training will be appointed at Band 8a during the training programme and will progress to Band 8b upon completion of training. This post is subject to Agenda for Change banding.
Responsibilities
* Attending MDT meetings
* Accepting new patient referrals
* Undertaking new patient consultations
* Undertaking appropriate clinical assessment of patients attending clinics
* Referring patients for radiotherapy
* Managing and supporting patients throughout the pathway
* Obtaining informed consent
* Delineating treatment volumes
* Prescribing radiotherapy
* Approving treatment plans
* Image interpretation
* On-treatment review
* Prescribing medication as an independent prescriber
* Patient follow-up

Qualifications
Essential
* Current professional registration with HCPC
* Extensive leadership experience
* Full MSc qualification (or working towards)
* Full knowledge of IR(ME)R regulations
Desirable
* Non medical prescribing qualification
* Consent MSc module
* Experience in clinical teaching/education
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
* Extensive knowledge of oncology and radiotherapy practice
* Experience in the development of clinical protocols and procedures
* Experience of leading service developments

* Specialist interest in Breast Cancer
* Evidence of publication
