Consultant Radiologist The closing date is 21 May 2026.
Our imaging services are located at all main hospital sites in the group: Hull Royal Infirmary, Castle Hill Hospital, Diana Princess of Wales Hospital at Grimsby, Scunthorpe General Hospital, and Goole & District Hospital, plus three CDCs at Hull, Scunthorpe, and Grimsby. The radiology team comprises 81 consultant radiologists across four hospital sites and three CDCs, with 2 consultants set to join in the next six months and recruitment of 9 more ongoing.
Main duties of the job The post is designed to meet growing demand for radiology services at NLAG following the opening of community diagnostic centres at Scunthorpe and Grimsby. The appointee will work within a team of six full‑time and two LTFT radiologists, providing the full spectrum of general radiology and subspecialty work, and will develop areas complementary to existing consultants.
Responsibilities include:
Contributing to clinical meetings, including multidisciplinary cancer meetings
Participating in a 1:6 on‑call rota for radiology
Engaging in audit, teaching, and research activities
Paying attention to service delivery and quality improvement initiatives
Adopting a flexible working pattern that meets the needs of the trust and the patient service
Job responsibilities The appointee will be based at either Scunthorpe General Hospital or Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby. Responsibilities include:
Delivering high‑volume general radiology and subspecialty services
Leading and managing radiology teams as required
Supervising junior medical staff and contributing to staff education
Supporting multidisciplinary team meetings and cancer pathway management
Engaging in audit and clinical research to inform practice changes
Participating in flexible and locum arrangements where appropriate
Working toward attaining a UK CCT holder status via the CESR route if not already achieved
Providing a home workstation and reporting area when needed
Person Specification
General radiology experience with a subspeciality interest and 3‑4 years of hospital experience
Leadership and team management skills in radiology
Ability to organise, prioritise and manage a high‑intensity workload
Experience supervising junior medical staff
Commitment to formal and informal teaching of medical staff, AHPs, and medical students
Evidence of participation in audit
Ability to apply clinical research evidence to patient care
Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities
GMC specialist registration (or expected within 6 months)
Capability to develop, present and operationalise coherent ideas for service development
Experience conducting a practice‑changing audit
Experience teaching or training in clinical courses
Peer‑reviewed research publications, original
Flexibility to adapt working pattern to meet service and personal needs

Salary £109,725 to £145,478 a year pro rata.
