Role Overview
Established in 1981 with a single store in the Northwest of England, JD Group is a leading omni‑channel retailer of Sports Fashion, Outdoors and Gyms. JD Sports Fashion Plc was listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1996 and has been a FTSE100 publicly quoted company since 2019. The role of Solution Owner is to advance the People Team’s impact by delivering and maintaining a full HRIS programme aimed at positioning JD as an employer of choice. You will lead a small team of SME’s with a particular focus on Pay and Benefits modules. This role is both strategic and hands‑on, requiring you to configure system infrastructure, understand business requirements and processes, and deliver HRIS solutions seamlessly through effective planning and innovative ideas.
Responsibilities
* Act as the lead product SME for all Pay and Benefits related products – responsible for design, governance, maintenance and continuous improvements.
* Lead a team of SME’s.
* Liaise with senior stakeholders to ascertain business requirements and understand business processes.
* Develop systemic solutions that best suit the Group’s requirements.
* Foster a collaborative environment within the SME project team driving excellence from the front.
* Coordinate your team for compliance, testing, BAU change management, consistency in design, documentation management and more.
* Manage output and schedules for the Pay Solution team, prioritise, delegate and report on actions as they arise.
* Maintain an understanding of legislative requirements for all Pay and Benefits related functions.
* Work collaboratively with BAU teams to embed procedures and system use effectively, continuously improving.
* Design, build and test integrations between the Pay and Benefits solution and other product workstreams (e.g. Workforce Management, HR).
Skills / Experience / Knowledge
* Previous experience in Pay and Benefits systems essential (ideally Dayforce).
* Ability to consider and evaluate solutions to problems under own initiative essential.
* Previous experience in leading and developing a team essential.
* Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.
* Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
* Confident and courteous in dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
* High level of attention to detail with strong administrative and organisational skills, able to prioritise workload.
* Must be methodical and able to work to strict deadlines.
* Have an awareness of GDPR and act with absolute discretion and confidentiality.
* Ambitious to learn with an enthusiastic approach.
* Previous experience in deploying/maintaining HRIS and Payroll solutions across multiple territories beneficial.
