Closing Date: 10 November 2025 The Role This post is based in Registry and Education Services, part of Student Services. You will join a new function in the unit contributing to the integration of evaluation and impact activities across our education provision supporting regulatory compliance across access and participation, the Teaching Excellence Framework and Office for Students B conditions; working with academic and professional service colleagues to implement our evaluation and evidence framework and deliver evaluation activities and data insight; and to monitor the implementation of key education interventions across the student lifecycle from point of entry supporting the delivery of our Education Strategy. You will also contribute to shared responsibilities across the team and ad hoc projects. You will work closely with the Senior Education Evaluation and Impact Manger and in collaboration with team members across Registry and Education Services, colleagues across the institution including senior management, those in professional services, faculties, academic units, across branch campuses and with the Students’ Union (NUSU). Key accountabilities Building and maintaining knowledge and understanding of the external higher education policy context, including regulatory requirements relating to access and participation and the Teaching Excellence Framework Contributing to the development and implementation of an institutional evaluation and evidence framework which uses appropriate quantitative and qualitative approaches Developing and supporting the delivery of research and evaluation plans related to the Access and Participation Plan, Education Strategy and other initiatives, including considerations around design, theory of change, data collection, analysis, and dissemination working with key academic and professional service colleagues Monitoring evaluating and reporting on the effectiveness and impact of interventions to improve access and student outcomes which contributes to an institutional and national evidence base. Conducting desk-based research, reviewing existing literature to synthesise the quality of evidence on a given topic Writing and delivering data, insight and evaluation reports and presentations to a variety of audiences Providing project management support for evaluation projects including maintaining accurate records and tracking progress; and working group support for key activities including the Access and Participation Plan development and implementation and Teaching Excellence Framework development and submission process Working in collaboration with other areas in Student Services to promote and integrate student voice into education projects and evaluation Contributing to the design and delivery of bespoke and generic workshops or training, to academic and professional services colleagues. Organising and leading events and activities for staff and students around evaluation and compliance Attending internal and external meetings and events to represent the Service/institution, providing expertise and input and feeding back on relevant developments and issues, including horizon scanning for sector developments Identifying and participating in continuous learning and professional development as appropriate Any other duties, consistent with the grade and unit’s objectives The Person Knowledge, Skills and Experience Understanding of current issues around UK higher education, widening participation and social mobility Strong communication skills, with experience in report writing and presentations, tailoring to different audiences including non-specialist stakeholders at all levels Ability to analyse complex quantitative data and to translate complex data into clear and actionable insights and recommendations that support management decision-making Knowledge of evaluation and research methods and methodologies, ethics and data protection, and ability to select and apply appropriately Experience of monitoring and evaluating programmes or interventions in education, health, or another related field including the development of theories of change Excellent IT skills including use of databases, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word and advanced knowledge of Excel Experience of establishing and maintaining successful internal and external working relationships and networks Attributes and Behaviour Demonstrable commitment to own professional development Embraces and initiates change, promoting creativity and supporting change with and amongst colleagues Uses data to inform decision making and approaches A clear commitment to delivering equality, diversity and inclusion in higher education Ability to prioritise competing demands on time, manage own workload, managing multiple projects or tasks simultaneously, and meet targets and deadlines Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team/group to achieve tasks and priorities Qualifications Educated to degree level or equivalent in a quantitative subject or able to demonstrate equivalent experience Newcastle University is a global University where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
