CHoICEFacilities Services (based at South Tyneside District Hospital) is looking torecruit a Qualified Chef who will be required to work and provide cover across7 days.
40hours per week (5 days out of 7 at 8 hours per day - working between 10.00-19.00)
(enhancementspaid for weekends)
This post will organise all foodprep and general chef duties, including arranging ward food shortages from timeto time, ensuring a timely, efficient service to all wards and the hospitalrestaurant. The role will also involve answering the telephone from time totime and organising food deliveries, where training for this will be provided.
Startingsalary is £26,259, rising to £27,395 per year plus enhancements.
Itis possible to earn over £29,000 per annum with overtime and paid enhancements(this being based on previous employees).
27Days annual leave and up to 8 bank holidays (pro-rata)
Main duties of the job
To complete daily food servicetasks to Trust locations. To ensure the patient, staff and visitor meal serviceis provided in a safe, clean and hygienic environment. Ensure high standards ofcleanliness are met and maintained.
Ensure that all food supplieswhich are delivered are checked following the Food Safety Management System(FSMS).
To be flexible on a day-to-daybasis moving from area to area and across departments within catering.
To prepare, produce, cook, andserve food to patients, staff and visitors.
To always maintain a clean safehygienic work area, adopting a clean as you go policy record accurately foodsafety information.
Chefs are expected to show aflexible attitude to work and work routine, as this can and will change fromday to day. On occasion chefs will be required to work additional hours toensure service continuity, additional hours are paid at overtime rates.
Skills required for foodpreparation, ensuring deadline service times are met. Fine knife skillsrequired for accuracy and speed with preparation. All aspects of foodproduction methods and food safety records.
