Shift Leader pay: starts from £14.76 per hour; increases to £15.97 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location.

New colleagues joining Tesco are offered a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week; roles with a minimum of 12 hours are also available.

The availability windows indicate preferred times. Your contracted hours will be scheduled within these times, with 3 weeks notice of shifts. We support flexibility; if your available times are close to those advertised, we would still love to hear from you.

Role summary: A Shift Leader supports store operations on the shop floor, faces customer needs, and helps ensure the store runs smoothly. The role involves coaching colleagues, coordinating shifts, and striving to improve service and store performance daily.


Responsibilities

* Coordinate the store team to deliver an easy, fuss-free shopping experience for customers
* Support colleagues to deliver daily priorities and take regular breaks
* Open and close the store, complete duty cover, and ensure decisions support safety
* Be the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of a manager for day-to-day queries
* Keep the store clean, tidy, and well-presented
* Support managers to coordinate seasonal, community and charity events
* Contribute to a positive, inclusive team atmosphere
* Provide excellent customer service by listening to customers and putting them first
* Keep the team informed on communications, changes, or updates
* Stay informed about store performance and assist in actions to improve operations
* Lead from the front and model good practice

You will be responsible for

* Coordinating the store team to deliver an easy customer experience
* Supporting colleagues to meet priorities and take breaks
* Opening/closing the store and ensuring safety decisions
* Being the go-to person in the absence of a manager
* Maintaining cleanliness, presentation, and safety standards
* Supporting managers with events and store improvements
* Fostering an inclusive team environment
* Providing excellent customer service
* Keeping the team informed of communications and updates
* Staying informed about store performance and seeking improvements
* Removing obstacles to deliver great service
* Following health and safety procedures
* Recognising and celebrating colleagues for great service

You will need

* To lead and oversee the store in the absence of the Manager
