Job Description
Our team is seeking an Environmental Compliance Manager who will support and drive environmental operational excellence across our Operations in the United Kingdom. This role will also provide technical support at our existing operations and future expansion across the UK. The position reports to the UK&IE Environmental Leader through the Environmental Assurance and Protection (EAP) team.
Responsibilities
* Manage site and multi-site compliance with air emissions, stormwater, waste, wastewater and other environmental laws, regulations and permits, including required UK national and local reporting.
* Participate in developing, introducing, controlling, improving and applying environmental management control systems, procedures, processes and products.
* Measure and analyze site performance against published environmental policy requirements, and develop plans to correct deficiencies.
* Cooperate with UK environmental authorities and implement notification, permission and approval procedures according to UK environmental law.
* Participate in annual data collection and reporting (internal and external) and control measurements of environmentally relevant issues.
* Manage an environmental risk program or project, defining business problems and solutions where necessary.
* Serve as the environmental subject‑matter expert, staying current on industry trends and regulations, and applying them across teams.
* Drive regulation‑based control outcomes and risk reduction, establishing mechanisms to keep risk within tolerance levels.
* Oversee schedules for environmental risk mitigation projects, overcoming issues and maintaining scope.
* Supervise at least six waste coordinators responsible for hazardous waste management and site environmental elements at UK operational sites.
A Day in the Life
Every day involves visiting multiple operations locations, engaging with senior stakeholders, and ensuring sites and the business deliver effective environmental compliance. The role requires agility to adjust focus and priorities based on business risk.
About The Team
The EU EAP team handles all environmental compliance in Europe. This position covers three countries and various site types, offering an opportunity to make a significant impact.
Basic Qualifications
* Experience with all Microsoft Office applications.
* Completed bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil, chemical, environmental), environmental science, sustainability, environmental management, natural sciences, or another relevant discipline.
* 4+ years of compliance, audit, or risk management experience.
* In‑depth knowledge of EU environmental regulations and local UK regulations.
* Experience working with multiple stakeholders (engineering, legal, public policy, procurement, safety) to understand operations processes.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in relevant industries such as law, customer service, investigations, risk, compliance or project management.
* Experience implementing scalable compliance solutions in a regulated environment.
* Master’s degree in civil, chemical or environmental engineering or related field.
* Project Management Professional (PMP), Agile or equivalent certification.
