Job Title: Customer Ambassador / Ticket Seller
Reporting to: Operations Manager, Oxford Tube
Location: Oxford (Requirement for some time at Thornhill P&R)
As the first point of contact for many of our passengers, the customer ambassador will play a vital role in creating a welcoming and helpful environment by assisting with ticket sales, providing travel information, and offering outstanding service that keeps customers coming back.
Key Responsibilities:
* Engage warmly and proactively with customers, ensuring every interaction is friendly and helpful.
* Sell tickets using electronic ticketing systems and mobile apps, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
* Offer clear, accurate travel information including schedules, pricing, promotions, and service updates.
* Assist customers with journey planning, mobility needs, and general enquiries with professionalism.
* Promote additional services or fare options where relevant to enhance the customer's journey, particularly Oxford SmartZone and connections to local bus services.
* Manage queues and busy travel periods calmly and efficiently, providing support to our customers.
* Handle cash and card transactions responsibly and reconcile takings at the end of shifts.
* Maintain a clean and tidy work area, upholding Oxford Tube's high standards of presentation.
* Liaise with drivers, station staff, and operations teams to ensure smooth customer boarding.
* Report customer feedback, safety issues, or concerns to supervisors promptly.
Required Skills & Qualifications
* Proven experience in customer service, retail, or a similar customer-facing role.
* A natural communicator with strong interpersonal skills and a helpful attitude.
* Comfortable using basic technology (ticketing software, card readers, mobile devices).
* Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage multiple tasks during peak times.
* Must be punctual, reliable, and take pride in delivering exceptional service.
Desirable
* Experience in the transport or travel industry.
* Familiarity with Oxford, London, and surrounding areas.
* Additional language skills are beneficial.
* Customer complaint handling training or experience.
* First aid, or basic health & safety certification.
