Role Title: Linux Technical Specialist Duration: contract to run until 31/12/2026 Location: Fleet, Hybrid 2/3 days onsite Rate: up to £460 p/d Umbrella inside IR35 Role purpose / summary We are seeking a skilled Linux Technical Specialist to manage and maintain our Linux-based infrastructure. This role is critical to ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support applications and services running on Linux platforms, while driving automation and continuous improvement. Key Skills/ requirements System Administration Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu). Perform system updates, patching, and performance tuning. Monitor system health and resolve technical issues proactively. Security Management Implement and maintain security controls to protect system integrity. Conduct vulnerability assessments and security audits. Manage firewalls, IDS/IPS, and other security tools. Network Management Configure and troubleshoot network settings on Linux systems. Ensure seamless connectivity and integration across platforms. Support DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP configurations. Backup & Recovery Design and implement backup strategies for critical systems. Perform regular backups and validate recovery procedures. Automation & Scripting Develop scripts to automate routine tasks using Bash, Python, or Perl. Support configuration management using tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef. Support & Collaboration Provide technical support to internal teams and resolve Linux-related issues. Work closely with developers to optimize application performance. Documentation & Reporting Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations and procedures. Generate reports on system performance, incidents, and compliance. Required Qualifications Proven experience as a Linux System Administrator or Technical Specialist. Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems. Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, KVM). Familiarity with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef). Solid understanding of networking protocols and services. Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python, Perl). Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Preferred Qualifications Certifications such as RHCE, RHCSA, or LPI. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). All profiles will be reviewed against the required skills and experience.
