The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this position will play a key role in delivering a successful engineering maintenance shift by supporting equipment reliability, carrying out planned preventative maintenance, and responding effectively to breakdowns.
The role requires a strong electrical bias alongside solid mechanical fault-finding capability, ensuring production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in line with operational targets.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance
1. Diagnose and repair faults across production machinery in a safe and methodical manner
2. Carry out preventative maintenance activities to a high standard
3. Support breakdown response to minimise downtime and improve equipment reliability
4. Conduct electrical machinery audits and ensure safe operation of plant equipment
5. Perform root cause analysis and record findings to support long-term improvements
6. Identify and implement improvements to equipment performance
Operational Support
7. Work closely with operations teams to resolve equipment issues quickly
8. Contribute to effective shift handovers, ensuring key issues are communicated clearly
9. Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
Health, Safety & Compliance
10. Ensure all engineering work is completed in line with health and safety legislation and company procedures
11. Follow lock-off / tag-off procedures and ensure safe working practices are maintained
12. Participate in risk assessments and support a safe working environment
Hygiene & Food Safety
13. Work to strict hygiene and food safety standards when conducting maintenance activities
14. Support the implementation of HACCP principles within engineering practices
The Person
15. Strong electrical fault-finding ability with supporting mechanical maintenance experience
16. Proven experience maintaining production machinery in a manufacturing environment
17. Methodical approach to preventative maintenance and problem-solving
18. Excellent communication and teamwork skills
19. Highly organised with strong attention to detail
Desirable:
20. Experience within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment
21. Understanding of HACCP principles
