Cover all day‑to‑day responsibilities of a service engineer which include the following:
Key Responsibilities
* Complete scheduled maintenance on Ultra systems in accordance with current maintenance routines.
* Fault diagnosis and repair of Ultra supplied equipment in Aberdeen workshop and onshore/offshore at customer sites, ensuring all test procedures and site records are accurately updated.
* Join the Helpdesk rota, submitting weekly status reports to customers.
* Join the on‑call and standby Engineer rotas.
* Provide technical support and resolve faults on Ultra systems.
* Provide estimates (time & materials) for tasks and deliver to customers.
* Escalate problems that block progress of own work.
* Adhere to company practices and policies, especially health and safety, and report any issues.
* Be responsible for the quality and timeliness of own work.
* Manage security of information as defined in the Security policies.
* Manage records and arrange for the repair of customer returned items as directed and in accordance with Ultra processes.
* Install and commission Ultra supplied equipment and systems at customer sites.
* Document all activities including Site Reports, Defect Reports, Delivery Notes and Job Cards.
* Liaise with and provide technical support to other departments such as Projects, Production and Development.
* Write technical reports, specifications and test procedures.
* Provide practical engineering support to other activities within Ultra, where time and priorities permit.
* Plan travel arrangements and maintain records of expenditures for site visits.
Role Requirements
* Essential: Experience installing, maintaining and repairing complex electronic systems in an offshore or marine environment.
* Essential: Good understanding of IT, networks and software‑based solutions.
* Essential: Methodical approach to problems with good attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
* Essential: Basic skills in wiring and mechanical fitting and use of both bench and hand portable test equipment.
* Desirable: Knowledge of installing, testing and commissioning of electronic equipment and systems.
* Desirable: Current experience of supporting marine electronic equipment on vessels.
* Desirable: Experience in maintaining unfamiliar equipment/systems.
* Desirable: Knowledge of Permit to Work and Risk assessments.
* Desirable: Experience supporting equipment at customer premises.
Qualifications & Skills Required
* Essential: ONC/HNC/HND or Degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or qualified by experience.
* Essential: Full driving licence.
* Essential: Experience working at height, BOSIET, Offshore Survival, Medical, MIST.
* Essential: Ability to obtain SC Clearance and COMPEX.
* Desirable: Formal qualifications in IT/Software or related discipline.
