About the Role
Do you have a passion for helping people and ensuring their health & safety? Our WA Mining Operations are looking for a suitable qualified Emergency Services Officer (ESO) to join the team and make a difference within an inclusive work environment! This position is on a 12-hour shift pattern consisting of days and nights, offering great work-life balance, and get to go home every night. This will be offered as a 6-month fixed term contract.
Our ESOs are the first responders in emergency situations by providing medical and rescue services to employees requiring treatment for illness or injury. You will be an active member of the fire and rescue teams on site and respond to incidents to protect personnel, company assets, the community and the environment.
Our ESOs are empowered to be autonomous and trustworthy. You will utilise your strong communication skills to build strong working relationships with key site personnel and direct contact with each of our work groups on the mine.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Assist with the development, implementation, and review of emergency management plans, ensuring compliance with site-specific procedures and relevant legislation.
2. Respond to and control emergency incidents, acting as on-scene commander when required, and activate and direct the onsite emergency response team.
3. Plan, coordinate, and participate in emergency response exercises and drills, and conduct and/or assist with training the onsite emergency response team.
4. Provide pre-hospital care during incidents, including patient treatment and transport, and support occupational health assessments and drug and alcohol testing.
5. Utilise site access software systems, advise on induction requirements, and action and report any unauthorised access to the site, assisting in relevant investigations.
6. Develop and follow Job Safety Analyses, participate in health and safety incident investigations, and conduct workplace inspections for high-risk work, ensuring regulatory compliance.

What you can bring to the role
13. Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role, demonstrating proficiency in emergency response and rescue disciplines, along with a strong understanding of relevant legislation, standards, and codes of practice.
14. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, with a proven ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
15. Highly organised and adaptable, with demonstrated ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and effectively plan and execute work deliverables in emergency situations, whether working independently or as part of a team.
16. Customer-focused approach with a commitment to providing excellent service in all interactions.

RII30719 Certificate III in Emergency Response and Rescue or PUA30622 Cert III in Public Safety (Firefighting and Emergency Operations) Which must include the following units of competency: PUASAR025 Undertake confined space rescue. PUASAR024 Undertake road crash rescue. PUASAR032 Undertake vertical rescue. PUAFIR324 Render hazardous materials incidents safe. RIIERR201E Conduct fire teams operations or PUAFIR302 Suppress urban fire.
