Housing Solutions Officer – Herefordshire Council
Role: Housing Solutions Officer (18-month Fixed Contract). Location: Blueschool House, Hereford. Hours: 37 hr/week. Salary: £32,061 – £36,363.
About the role
Prevent homelessness and support sustainable housing solutions across Herefordshire. The role focuses on early intervention, housing advice, and partnership working. Working within the Housing Team to keep residents in suitable accommodation.
Key responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive housing advice and early intervention to maintain tenancies and prevent homelessness.
* Take and assess homelessness applications, conduct interviews, and make decisions in line with Part VII of the Housing Act 1996, the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, the Code of Guidance and relevant council policies.
* Deliver advice on all available housing options.
* Collaborate with Home Point, Registered Providers, private landlords and other partners to maximise housing stock across the county.
* Safeguard vulnerable individuals and families in all housing duties.
About you
* Experienced or knowledgeable in housing legislation, homelessness prevention and tenancy sustainment.
* Strong communicator with empathy, resilience and a solutions‑focused mindset.
* Capable of managing a diverse caseload under pressure.
* Confident in partnership working and supporting vulnerable individuals.
