You'll be focussing on the electronic aspects of torpedo design, repair, and maintenance & have the chance to work on complex projects at different stages of development and to contribute throughout the lifecycle in part of the wider Underwater Weapons team. You will be:Designing and developing electronic assemblies from start to finishUpdating existing designs and incorporating new technologySupporting off-site trialsTesting high voltage alternators with custom equipmentConducting tests on customer platformsTurning requirements into detailed designsSelecting components, creating schematics, and assisting with PCB layoutSpecifying unique items for purchaseCollaborating with other teams like mechanical/thermal engineering, safety, and productionFollowing the engineering process and participating in reviewsCreating and demonstrating system integrationsAnalysing fibre optic systems using specific toolsYou need:A degree in Electronic Engineering or a related fieldExperience in defence or high safety environmentsDesign experience for volume production using computer-aided engineeringProficiency in analogue circuit analysis and signal processingKnowledge of power supply and decoupling principlesFamiliarity with analogue/digital conversionAbility to integrate systems and troubleshoot issuesBonus points for:Knowledge of Fibre Optics, Power Electronics, or Test & MeasurementExperience advising PCB layout for EMC considerationsCEng accreditation or working towards itRelocation packages within the UK are available if you're interested in moving to Portsmouth (or close!) - please get in touch for more info.Due to the security requirements for this programme, you'll need to undergo security clearance and have lived in the UK for at least 5 years.
