This is an exceptional time to join the University of Southampton to support the quality delivery of the Student Record System transformation. The role is within the University’s IT department, iSolutions. The agile BRITE project team is modernizing a critical product for the University community.
About The Role
This is a lead role supporting the quality delivery of the Student Record System. It involves providing technical test strategies and services within an agile delivery lifecycle, driving validation of product quality assurance at all stages of development and operation.
What You'll Do
* Define testing strategies across the BRITE project, including system, integration, and user acceptance testing, covering functional and non-functional requirements.
* Build a test roadmap to support delivery of quality products and excellent user experience.
* Describe and acquire environments for testing, ensuring data storage meets information protection standards.
* Ensure testing standards are maintained throughout development, configuration, and release stages.
* Collaborate with stakeholders within iSolutions and across the university to prioritize testing needs.
* Identify areas for improvement through new testing technologies, tools, and methodologies.
* Develop functional test automation capabilities and strategies.
* Maintain relationships with external partners to meet non-functional testing demands.
* Build and maintain test progress reports against KPIs.
What You'll Bring
* Proven ability to design and embed test strategies and standards.
* Experience implementing security frameworks for information and data in testing environments.
* Ability to communicate testing and QA requirements effectively to stakeholders.
* Skills to prioritize workload, work under pressure, and manage expectations.
* Practical experience in planning and executing test activities within organizational policies.
* Experience applying functional and non-functional testing strategies.
* Knowledge of DevOps practices and culture.
* Minimum ISTQB/ISEB Foundation Level Certification.
* Experience designing test regimes in a cloud-first environment, especially related to Student Records systems.
