Engineer - Highways Preventative Maintenance
* Annual Salary: £39,890 - £44,096 (higher starting point possible for exceptional candidates)

We are excited to announce a new Engineer role within our expanding highways team, crucial for the delivery of preventative highways maintenance programmes. This position offers a supportive environment and a significant pipeline of meaningful delivery work, ideal for a professional ready to oversee and support impactful projects.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Manage and supervise Clerks of Works carrying out preventative maintenance activities.
* Lead on project and programme management for surface dressing, micro-asphalt, slurry surfacing, and other treatments.
* Undertake engineering assessments and make robust decisions relating to highway condition, design solutions, and treatment suitability.
* Ensure specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements are met on all works.
* Coordinate multiple live projects simultaneously, maintaining strong communication with contractors and internal teams.
* Support programme planning, prioritisation, and delivery.
* Engage with councillors, stakeholders, and operational colleagues as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Demonstrated experience in preventative highway treatments such as surface dressing, micro-asphalt, and slurry surfacing.
* Strong civil engineering decision-making capability.
* Experience managing multiple projects concurrently.
* Ability to supervise staff and provide technical guidance.
* Full physical ability to undertake site visits as required.
Desirable Skills:
* Level 3 Civil Engineering qualification or substantial highways maintenance experience.
* Local authority experience.
* Familiarity with GIS.
* Competent IT skills (Office suite).
