There are a lot of great people to work with at Tesco. Shift Leader responsibilities include supporting store operations, helping customers, and ensuring the store runs smoothly to benefit customers, colleagues and communities.
Responsibilities
* Work in a fast-paced retail environment with lots of variety.
* Take ownership of running duty shifts, coordinating the team to deliver a clean, well-stocked store that exceeds customer expectations.
* Be there for customers, listening to them and helping to ensure they leave the store with what they came for.
* Look for ways to improve service, including coaching colleagues and giving feedback to the team.
* Guide and support colleagues in-store, making sure it stays a safe place to work and shop.
* Maintain an understanding of store performance and assist managers in delivering actions to improve running of the store.
* Lead from the front and set a great example for colleagues in everything you do.
* Co-ordinate and manage opening and closing the store, and complete duty cover with safety in mind.
* Be the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of a manager for day-to-day queries.
* Ensure the store is clean, tidy, and well-presented; support managers with seasonal, community and charity events.
* Contribute to a great, inclusive team atmosphere and provide excellent customer service by listening to customers and putting them first.
* Keep the team informed and up to speed on communications, changes or updates; stay knowledgeable about store performance and look for ways to improve operations.
* Coordinate store improvements and remove obstacles to provide great service; follow health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same.
* Recognise and celebrate colleagues providing great service.
Requirements
* Be a great role model by delivering thoughtful customer service and meeting customer needs.
* Build strong, long-lasting relationships with colleagues to foster a positive, inclusive team atmosphere.
* Be a clear communicator, comfortable with multiple methods to keep the team informed.
* Be comfortable taking the lead and overseeing the store in the absence of the Manager.
* Be a good decision-maker, flexible in thinking, and comfortable handling change to ensure customer and colleague needs are met.
* Be motivating to inspire the team to exceed expectations.
* Be curious and proactive in seeking ideas to serve customers, communities, and the planet better.
* Available to work a minimum of 12 hours if desired, with a policy of a minimum 16 guaranteed hours per week, and potential for 18+ depending on location and schedule.

Availability window details and pay: Shift Leader rate starts from £14.76 per hour, increasing to £15.97 within M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location.
