Lead Release Automation Engineer: The Lead Release Automation Engineer is responsible for owning and evolving the organisation’s approach to CI/CD and platform engineering. This role leads the Release Automation engineering function, driving self-sufficiency across delivery teams, and ensuring scalable, secure, and efficient automation practices. The role also includes strategic oversight of supplier relationships to ensure alignment with delivery objectives and engineering standards.
Main Responsibilities:
Define and lead the Release Automation strategy, ensuring alignment with digital delivery objectives and enterprise architecture.
Champion a platform engineering approach to enable reusable, scalable automation patterns across teams.
Architect and evolve CI/CD pipelines to support cloud-native applications and hybrid environments.
Foster a culture of innovation and excellence by promoting experimentation, rapid prototyping, and the adoption of emerging technologies, while positioning Release Automation as a recognised centre of excellence.
Drive transformative delivery practices by challenging conventional automation approaches and continuously evolving the maturity of automation capabilities.
Skills and experience:
Proven experience leading DevOps or Release Automation functions, ideally within Azure environments.
Deep expertise in Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipeline design.
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Azure Container Registry, and Azure Functions.
Proficiency in PowerShell, .NET, and REST API integrations.
Experience with Azure Databricks and Azure Machine Learning is advantageous.
