The post holder will be working as part of a school team to support teaching and learning. Under the teacher's direction they will work within the classroom to support pupil learning, organise resources to support learning through the school and carry out duties relating to pupil pastoral support. Competence in handling and using classroom equipment and competence in routine clerical and administrative tasks is required. The post holder will carry out duties relating to pupil pastoral care, attendance, demonstrating good relations with pupils, parents, and those from other support agencies. Post holder will have the ability to work towards and gain a relevant qualification at SCQF Level 6 or equivalent within 5 years of commencing employment in the role of PSW. This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC.
