We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a supportive and welcoming school in Wigan. This is a long-term role with an expected start date of 2nd June 2025. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced educators, contributing to the development and well-being of young learners in a warm and nurturing environment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for providing vital support to the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons. Your duties will include working with small groups and individual students to help them achieve their learning goals, supporting children with special educational needs (SEN), and assisting with the general management of the classroom. You will also be expected to monitor students' progress, offer feedback, and help create a positive and encouraging learning environment. Additionally, you may assist in preparing teaching resources, supervising students during break times, and supporting extracurricular activities. Building strong relationships with students, staff, and parents is key to ensuring an inclusive and successful educational experience for all children. Your role will be instrumental in helping to maintain a safe, supportive, and productive classroom atmosphere.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Previous experience working with children in a primary school setting is highly desirable
* A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is preferred but can be completed with Teaching Personnel
* A strong understanding of child development
* Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanour
* A passion for education and supporting children to reach their full potential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
