Student Veterinary Nurse
Join our team at Oakley Veterinary Clinic, part of CVS Vets, a leading veterinary group with over 500 practices and 8,000 professionals. This role supports our Veterinary Team delivering exceptional care while you gain hands‑on experience in your first, second or third year of training.
Location and Hours
Oakley Veterinary Clinic
40 hours per week, 5 days between 7:30am and 7:00pm, or 4 days with one weekday off. 1 in 4 Saturdays on a rota basis, working 8:00am to 1:00pm.
Responsibilities
* Provide nursing care to patients
* Assist Vets and Nurses in animal restraint during treatments
* Clean, walk, and feed patients
* Prepare emergency and operating facilities
* Perform general cleaning and maintenance duties
* Run internal lab samples
* Answer emergency calls
* Cover the receptionist desk – handle queries, book appointments, and process payments
About the Role
As a Student Veterinary Nurse you will support qualified RVNs and Vets, ensuring exceptional care for pets, with a focus on learning and teamwork.
Who We're Looking For
* Excellent communication skills with strong empathy
* Superior customer service abilities with experience in public interactions
* Background in animal welfare, including feeding, cleaning, medicating, and handling; deep understanding of animal welfare needs
* Resilience and the capacity to handle distressing and emotional situations
* Positive attitude and excellent teamwork skills
* Experience in a veterinary environment is a plus
Required Qualifications (for College Enrolment)
* Five GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, including English, Maths, and a Science subject; or
* An animal nursing assistant (ANA) or veterinary care assistant (VCA) qualification, plus functional skills level two in Application of Number and Communication
