About the Drama Department: The Drama department is a collaborative and creative team with a shared commitment to fostering students' creativity, confidence, and performance skills. We offer a stimulating and engaging curriculum that covers a wide range of dramatic genres and techniques, from improvisation and devising to script work and physical theatre. About the Role: Teach Drama across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching at Key Stage 5 depending on experience and interest. Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities, ensuring all students are challenged and supported to make excellent progress in Drama. Utilize a range of teaching methods and resources, including workshops, rehearsals, performances, and technology, to bring Drama to life for students and foster a deep understanding of theatrical techniques and styles. Direct and produce school productions, providing students with opportunities to participate in all aspects of theatre production, from acting and stage management to design and technical roles. Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, set targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys. Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our Drama curriculum remains relevant and challenging for all students. Foster a love of Drama in students, encouraging them to explore their creativity, participate in drama clubs and productions, and consider further studies or careers in the performing arts. Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to create a cohesive, supportive, and stimulating learning environment where students thrive. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice, keep abreast of the latest developments in Drama education, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the Drama department. Ideal Candidate: Holds QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification. Possesses excellent subject knowledge in Drama and a passion for the performing arts. Demonstrates a passion for teaching Drama and a commitment to student success, with a proven track record of engaging and inspiring students. Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. Is confident in fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported to achieve their best. Has experience in directing and producing plays and performances. Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice, contributing to the continuous improvement of their teaching skills and the department as a whole.
