Business Development Manager – Toxicology
Location: UK – Remote (national travel required)
Role Overview
The Business Development Manager – Toxicology is responsible for driving commercial growth across the UK toxicology market. The role focuses on developing new and existing customer relationships across laboratory services, toxicology testing, analytical solutions, and/or reference standards within clinical, forensic, pharmaceutical, environmental, and regulatory sectors.
This is a customer-facing role combining strategic market development with hands-on sales delivery and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify and develop new business opportunities within the UK toxicology sector, including NHS, private laboratories, CROs, pharma/biotech, forensic, and regulatory organisations
* Manage the full sales lifecycle from lead generation through to contract award
* Deliver agreed revenue and growth targets and manage key accounts
* Build strong relationships with scientific, technical, and procurement stakeholders
* Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and relevant regulatory developments
* Collaborate with scientific, quality, and operational teams to support proposals and service delivery
* Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, and sales reporting
Experience & Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Toxicology, or a related discipline
* 4–7+ years’ experience in business development or sales within toxicology, laboratory services, CROs, or life sciences
* Strong understanding of the UK toxicology and laboratory environment
* Experience managing complex sales cycles and negotiations
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Desirable
* Postgraduate qualification (MSc or PhD)
* Knowledge of UKAS, GLP/GxP, or MHRA-regulated environments
* Experience selling into NHS or other regulated organisations
