Job Requirements
*
o Previous experience of working as a Junior or Assistant Buyer for a retailer/wholesaler, preferably within the food to go category
o A good level of product knowledge and industry understanding
Good numeracy and literacy ability (minimum GCSE Level C in Maths and English), and fully IT literate
o Excellent negotiation skills with the experience and ability to deliver cost down benefits
o Excellent communicator with great interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective business and customer relationships
o Proven commercial skill and acumen
o Customer focused and driven by results and achievement
o Good administrative skills
o Comfortable working under pressure in a competitive market place to gain market advantage
Job Responsibilities
* Undertake the procurement of selected products to achieve a high level of profit for the company and quality for the customers;
* Take ownership and review on a daily basis, stockholding levels for all products in the portfolio, ensuring 100% availability and maximising cashflow at all times
* Ensure fulfilment of orders by providing and managing contingency supply sources if there are issues with the usual supply chain
Make recommendations to developing the product category and strategy to create a competitive core range of products to drive incremental sales and profit growth; Deliver and report against performance against agreed targets/KPI's/budgets on a regular basis including annual sales, profit and supplier income
* Identify, assess and develop a consolidated supplier base for current requirements whilst building relationships to improve quality, service and costs for the future;
Develop, negotiate and manage all contracts and supplier agreements for the category and, where appropriate, agree and document joint business plans (JBP's) to include promotional plans, target turnover and suppler income;
* Maintain accurate records of all agreements and transactions, ensuring departmental systems and procedures are adhered to
* Work with internal customers across the group to ensure the range and specifications for each product meet quality, customer and logistical requirements;
Support Sales including Tender submissions with timely support in sourcing and providing competitive cost prices for new and/or substitute products;
* Keep abreast of industry news and developments and identify both challenges and opportunities that may play a role in the future of the business;
* Contribute to the management of company stock to include limiting stock holding and minimise stock markdowns.
* Any other duties that may be required from time to time for the smooth running of the business.
