Job Summary
We are a private household in rural East Sussex looking for an experienced and committed Dog Nanny to provide day-to-day care to three giant breed dogs, one of which is a puppy. A background in dog care / handling is essential.
Responsibilities
* Provide exceptional care and attention to the dogs, treating them as valued members of the family. This includes feeding, grooming, and ensuring they receive regular exercise and playtime.
* Implement a personalised diet plan, exercise and training regime for each dog, ensuring they receive the appropriate physical and mental stimulation. Utilise positive reinforcement techniques to maintain and enhance their training.
* Assist with the care of other pets (chickens, sheep) including feeding and cleaning out animal housing.
* Perform light household duties as required to maintain the upkeep of the home alongside existing Housekeeper, including ensuring that dogs are cleaned and dried after walks in wet weather.
Experience
* Experience as a professional dog carer or similar and a proven ability to handle large dog breeds of various temperaments.
* Proficiency in positive reinforcement training techniques to maintain and enhance dogs' behaviour and obedience, along with the ability to avoid or resolve potential conflict situations.
* Ability to handle giant breed dogs, and engage in physical activities such as walking, running, and playing.
* An understanding of dog health, as well as familiarity with giving medications, recognising signs of illness or distress and administering first aid.
* Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate the needs of our schedule, including travelling overseas with the family as and when required, with time being given off in lieu for overtime worked.
* Possession of a valid driver's licence, as driving may be required for dog-related errands or appointments.
Hours are flexible, but core hours would ideally be Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 12-5pm and Wednesday and Saturday 8am to 5pm.
