📋 Role Details

• Location: Nationwide (various NPS regions)
• Service: Probation Officer (NPS)
• Contract Type: Ongoing / Locum
• Hours: Full-time & Part-time available
• Pay Rate: £28–£30 per hour LTD (Dependent on Experience)

🎯 Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert assessments and written reports to criminal courts, the Parole Board, and partner agencies
• Manage medium to high-risk offender caseloads
• Represent the NPS at professional forums, including MAPPA and MARAC
• Support and guide Probation Services Officers (PSOs) and wider staff
• Conduct visits to prisons, homes, or alternative locations as required
• Assess and respond to risk escalation requests from Community Rehabilitation Companies
• Deliver and co-lead accredited offending behaviour programmes
• Fulfil statutory safeguarding duties in line with NPS policies
• Demonstrate pro-social modelling and address anti-social behaviours

✅ Essential Requirements

• Probation Qualification Framework (PQF) degree or equivalent Probation Studies qualification (Essential)
• Strong knowledge of risk assessment and risk management in a probation context
• Understanding of the Criminal Justice System and the role of the Probation Service
• Knowledge of factors influencing offending (e.g. substance misuse, housing instability)
• Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion
• Competency in case management principles and victim awareness
