Supplier Development Engineer

I am currently supporting an Aerospace organisation to help recruit a Supplier Development Engineer at their office in Lancashire. As a Supplier Development Engineer, you will support different teams across the organisation, such as supply chain, engineering, and quality to help improve how the business works with suppliers.
Due to the cross functional support, you will need to build strong relationships both with internal stakeholders as well as external suppliers. As a Supplier Development Engineer, you will support both current and new suppliers to meet standards through sustainable procurement. As a key part of your position, this means you will help the business with suppliers and purchases that provides a positive influence on society, the economy and the environment.

Role and responsibilities:
* Support sustainable procurement by communicating sustainable sourcing practices by ensuring suppliers meet standards for delivery, quality, cost, safety, and ethics (including environmental and sustainability).
* Carry out supplier quality conduct inspections and audits to ensure suppliers meet both the business and industry standards.
* Investigate supplier issues, identify root causes, and provide resolutions to prevent repeat issues.
* Track and lead initiatives to improve supplier capabilities and sustainability performance.
* Support new project work by assisting with NPI, supplier changes, and bids by ensuring suppliers are ready and qualified.
* Own and approve new suppliers through assessments and audits
What we’re looking for:
* Background in supplier quality – ideally in supplier audit, assessment and development
* Strong understanding of Aerospace – products, processes, technologies, standards and regulations
* Knowledge of root cause analysis, production rate readiness, business continuity and continuous improvement
* Highly beneficial if you have worked with scope 3 emissions data and collection and Ecovardis
