You will train and learn to become a professional quantity surveyor. Initially you will work in the Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying and Project Management sections of the business so you can learn how each of these disciplines contributes to a construction project. Your on job training will be combined with academic study on a block release basis at University.\n\nThe Apprentice / Trainee Quantity Surveyor (QS) shall be responsible for:\n\n-\tShadowing and assisting QS team and senior management personnel to undertake all aspects of QS work\n-\tInput and assisting with preparing cost estimates for different types of projects\n-\tAssisting and preparing Tender documentation including measurement of different work elements\n-\tChecking and reviewing returned Tenders for projects\n-\tAssisting and shadowing of senior colleagues on post contract work â site visits, attending progress meetings, preparing and vetting contractors applications for \n payment, preparing cost reports, agreeing measurement of variations and the like\n-\tExposure to and involvement in a wide variety of different projects including new build residential, infrastructure, healthcare, further education, hotel, commercial and \n historic buildings. You should be hard working, enthusiastic and eager to learn. Previous experience of construction is not necessary however you will be expected to be reliable and must be a good communicator. A minimum of four Highers; with at least two Highers at grade B or higher. Various grade combinations from Highers and Advanced Highers will be considered. Nat 5 English and Mathematics are essential; Higher English and Mathematics are preferred.\r\n\r\n
