We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Knowsley to assist with the appointment of a Principal Planning Officer, on a 3-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £28.92 - £38.50 per hour
Summary:
The Principal Planner will be responsible for managing a varied caseload of major planning applications, contributing to the delivery of the Councils regeneration and economic development programmes. This includes working on transformational initiatives such as the Halsnead Garden Village and various Town Centre regeneration schemes.
Responsibilities:
* Manage and assess complex major planning applications, from pre-application to delivery and appeal.
* Lead negotiations with developers and stakeholders, ensuring high-quality development and best outcomes for the borough.
* Coordinate legal agreements (e.g., S106), planning conditions, and mitigation strategies.
* Brief senior officers and elected members, and represent the council at Planning Committee and public inquiries.
* Support delivery of strategic sites and Single Investment Fund (SIF) projects.
* Provide expert planning advice to internal teams, developers, and external agencies.
* Draft and present high-quality reports and evidence for planning appeals.
Qualification:
* RTPI accredited degree or equivalent qualification
Essentials:
* Experience preparing evidence for public inquiries and hearings.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and planning-related IT systems.
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits.
