Night Care Assistant to support a baby girl with Congenital Myotonic Dystrophy in Barnstaple. Night shifts available: 21:00–07:00
Ocean Healthcare is looking for a caring and confident Care Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a baby girl living with Congenital Myotonic Dystrophy, a rare condition that causes muscle weakness and can affect breathing and feeding from birth.She also has chronic lung disease, gastro-reflux and a hearing impairment. She is supported overnight with BIPAP and NG feeding.
Your role will be focused on ensuring her comfort and safety through the night. You'll be watching over her while she sleeps, making sure her BIPAP is in place, monitoring for any sickness and suctioning if needed, as well as administering NG feeds.
She is non-verbal and non-mobile but enjoys soothing sounds, being talked to quietly and the lights and sounds from her toys. She lives in her own home with her Mum & Dad.
Shift Details:
* 21:00 - 07:00 Monday to Sunday
Note: We are looking for someone who would like to do 3-4 nights a week for consistency, but we know that doesn't work for everyone. Please reach out if you'd like to discuss your availability.
Pay Rates:
* Monday to Thursday: £14.40 p/hr
* Friday: £14.65 p/hr
* Saturday & Sunday: £16.65 p/hr
* Bank Holidays: £19.05 p/hr

What We're Looking For

* Experience working with children is essential
* Competent with moving and handling
* Experience with BiPAP, NG/PEG feeding and ventilator care is highly desirable, but full training will be provided
The ideal candidate would be a confident, calm and experienced Care Assistant competent with moving and handling. You'll have experience working with children. BiPAP and NG feedingexperience would be desired but not required as full training will be provided.
