Dr Mahbub's Surgery, Brace Street Health Centre is seeking an enthusiastic, committed and caring Salaried GP to join our busy but friendly single‑handed practice. The role involves four sessions per week (Thursdays and Fridays), working closely with our GP Partner and Sessional GP. Salary is £10‑11.5k (including employer pension and NI contributions), depending on experience.
Main duties of the job The successful candidate will work with the whole team to deliver the highest quality primary care services. Responsibilities include assessing patients, working with our multidisciplinary team, and undertaking the clinical duties and responsibilities associated with working as a General Practitioner in line with GMC and RCGP standards.
About us Dr Mahbub's Surgery is based at Brace Street Health Centre (63 Brace Street, Walsall WS1 3PS). It is a purpose‑built building with on‑site parking, providing primary care for Caldmore and surrounding areas and serving approximately 3,500 patients.
We are a single‑handed GP practice led by Dr Mahbub, with two locum GPs, one practice nurse, one PA and PCN/ARRS staff, supported by an admin/reception team.
Job responsibilities
Support the GP Partner in managing a busy, interesting clinical caseload.
Lead on key disease areas, monitoring trends in treatment, staff training and prescribing, and assist in developing appropriate healthcare services for a diverse suburban patient list, including Directed Enhanced Services commissioning, patient participation, and health promotion.
Make professional, autonomous decisions regarding presenting problems, whether self‑referral or referral from other health care workers within the practice.
Assess health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
Develop care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.
Provide counselling and health education.
Admit or discharge patients to and from the caseload and refer to other care providers as appropriate.
Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
Collect data for audit purposes.
Compile and issue computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions, avoiding hand‑written prescriptions whenever possible.
Prescribe in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) when clinically appropriate.
Ensure that all work carrying a private fee is properly recouped and accounted for (e.g., medical reports, insurance reports, private letters to third parties).
Carry out all normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Ensure awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies and guidelines, e.g., prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety.
Commit to lifelong learning and audit to ensure evidence‑based best practice.
Contribute to the evaluation, audit and clinical standard setting within the practice.
Help develop computer‑based patient records and summarise patient records with accurate coding of patient data.
Attend training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
Mentor additional roles within the practice.
Confidentiality Data protection is a top priority. The Data Protection Act places obligations on us to ensure that data is processed lawfully and stored according to its strict provisions. You are required to uphold the practice's data protection policies when dealing with information about patients, carers, colleagues, and other healthcare workers. Unauthorized disclosure of confidential information will result in disciplinary action and may lead to dismissal.
