Building Services and Compliance Officer
To support the Building Services Manager in delivering a technical support service to the Council in respect of the public building portfolio. This includes management of caretaking and cleaning staff, responsive repairs and planned maintenance, property condition surveys, risk assessments and management plans.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
* Assist in the day-to-day running of the facilities service, including the civic campus, pavilions, public conveniences, cemetery buildings and operation of Arnold Market
* Arrange and administer responsive repairs and planned maintenance
* Deliver small-scale capital projects within the Building Services team
* Assist in achieving compliance with relevant legislation and Council policies and procedures
* Provide day-to-day direction and training of caretaking and cleaning staff
* Undertake routine tests, inspections and checks to buildings and systems
* Provide information for reports to Cabinet, Portfolio Holders and Senior Leadership Team
* Maintain records of property condition surveys, fire and gas risk assessments, water management written schemes and Asbestos Management Plans
* Manage and monitor capital and revenue budgets, income and expenditure, performance targets and monthly reporting
* Monitor non-payment and pursue debts related to community centre and pavilion bookings
* Provide technical information and advice relating to Council buildings to officers, elected Members and the public
* Act as one of the emergency call-out contacts for all Council buildings
* Apply principles of good customer care in all aspects of the role
* Carry out any additional duties required to support the effective operation of the team
