About the Role
Are you a skilled tradesperson looking to move into teaching or already a talented lecturer aiming to transform lives through learning? A teaching qualification is desirable, but we can provide training for those with supporting subject expertise or industry experience willing to work towards it.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in vocational subjects such as carpentry, brickwork, and general maintenance.
* Assess learners’ needs and support them to achieve their goals.
* Monitor progress, provide feedback, and record outcomes.
* Collaborate with prison staff and educators to support educational programs.
* Maintain accurate attendance and progress records.
Qualifications and Experience
* Relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent).
* Vocational qualifications and experience in areas like carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, or maintenance.
* Experience in educational settings, preferably within prisons or similar environments.
* Ability to motivate learners from diverse backgrounds.

About HMP Huntercombe
HMP Huntercombe, established in 1946, is a Category C adult male prison holding a foreign national population, supporting government deportation priorities. Courses include English, Maths, ICT, Barbering, Construction, Hospitality, Art, and ESOL.
The education department operates from 7.50 am to 4.40 pm Monday-Thursday and 7.50 am to 12.35 pm on Friday.
