We are delighted to be seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our friendly and successful Selective Licensing team on a fixed-term basis for 30 months from start date.

Our team oversees the Council’s Selective Licensing scheme, an initiative to raise housing standards and protect our communities. By ensuring landlords in designated areas are licensed, we help create safer, well-managed homes where tenants are treated fairly, shaping better living conditions for our residents.

About the role
In this fast-paced role, you’ll help us deliver our objectives by supporting compliance, engaging and building relationships with stakeholders, and supporting us to create better-quality homes for the people of Stockton-on-Tees.
In practice, your responsibilities will focus on processing licence applications, issuing licences, conducting tenant referencing and providing support to landlords and tenants to ensure an efficient service.

What do you need?
You’ll be a motivated individual who can confidently meet deadlines, communicate effectively and deliver outstanding customer service while working collaboratively with our wider team.
While an understanding of Selective Licensing is desirable, it’s not essential - we’ll provide comprehensive training to help you succeed in the role.
We’re looking for someone who can:
4. Communicate well in writing and verbally to a wide range of stakeholders
5. Provide outstanding customer service in a calm and helpful manner
6. Manage a range of business administration tasks within deadlines, including accurate record-keeping and processing documents and payments
7. Interpret housing legislation and apply it confidently (training will be provided)
8. Assist with property and area inspections when needed
